Poland's Iga Swiatek has won the Italian Open, comprehensively beating former world number one Garbine Muguruza in straight sets.
The 20-year-old dropped her first set of the tournament on Sunday but recovered to win 6-3 6-2.
Swiatek is still chasing a calendar Grand Slam, and her victory in Rome is a timely boost before the French Open starts later this month.
Muguruza, who has won two Grand Slams, was no pushover, but Swiatek's all-court game was too strong for her opponent.
Swiatek will now head to the French Open as the clear favorite, and her victory in Rome is a clear statement of intent.
The French Open starts on May 22 and Swiatek will be looking to add to her two previous titles at the tournament.
